I decided to create this blog to share some thoughts with everybody, some life experiments, lessons learned with some awesome people, or simply any good idea that i think will be worthy to share.

Books: In 2012 i've read 17 books, most of them are historical novels, personal finance, psychology. Between these books, my favorite ones that i strongly recommend are:
Fall of Giants: As iam passionate about history specially history of world war, this book was perfect, since it covers notable events such as World War I, the Russian Revolution and the struggle for women's suffrage. Fall of Giants is a historical novel by Welsh-born author Ken Follet. It is the first in the Century Trilogy, this historical novel follows five interrelated families throughout the course of the 20th century between 1911 and 1924. This book was a recommendation of a friend of mine, thank you Alexandre!
I Will Teach you to be Rich: This is a 2009 personal finance book by Ramit Sethi who writes a blog that i love that has the same name of the book, click here to check. In my opinion, this book is a must read for everyone, specially for young people like me. This book talks about the psychology of money and how to build a financial automated system. Since i finished to read this book i totally change my mind with a conscious spending plan and how to think long term about my money. Honestly, this one is a must read book for everyone.
Auschwitz: A Doctor’s Eyewitness Account: As i already told, i am passionate about the history of world war and this book is the witness of a doctor called Miklós Nyiszli during his time working as a doctor in the Auschwitz concentration camp. If you like history of world war, it's worthy read this book.

Documentaries:
El Secreto de los Nuevo Ricos Chinos en España (in Spanish, Youtube): This documentary talks about the new riches in Spain, the chinese people. I get amazed how they work hard to reach their financial goals, how they are focused in the work, at the same time i get amazed and scared. Honestly, it's inspiring how they become big entrepeneurs, generally starting with 0 Dollars...This documentary also talks about the dark side of the those immigrants and the chinese mafia... This documentary reminds me when i was living in Argentina, i remember that almost EVERY market was owned by chinese people. It's worthy watch this documentary to understand how the chinese people are becoming the new riches all around the world through hard hard and saving money.
Movies: This year, i didn't watch anything special in the theater that made me crazy about... But some friends of mine recommended some movies that worth watch:
In Time (Amazon): This movie is insanely cool! After watching it, i was thinking to myself "but wait, maybe this is true, time is the new currency!!". You should definitely watch it if you want to think about how you treate your time.
Inception (Amazon): I love Sci-fi, specially if it's a sci fi actioner with the architeture of the mind. It's worthy seeing...
Inglorious Bastards (Amazon): I really like Quentin Tarantino, and this movie is insanely fun, besides, the movie happens in a Nazi Occupied France during the World War II. If you like Tarantino, you MUST watch this movie.

Joinville Tips

Since i moved to Joinville in 2008, i've been hearing people complain about Joinville, complain about the city, about the Weather, about the people, about Everything. Honestly i'm SICK of people complaining, especially if the hometown of the person if a little small city in the middle of nowhere (trust me, i 've been hearing people from a city of 3,000 inhabitants complaining about Joinville!!) . Ok, ok, i'll be honest with you, in 2008 i also used to complain about the city, but in that time i was just 19 years old, so, i wasn't mature enough and get out of my couch and see the beauty and interesting stuff that have to do outside my own world and house...
So, here goes some of my recommendations:
Art and singular view of Joinville: It's funny how we get so overwhelmed about our routine that we start to close our eyes to the beauty that sorround us... Until 2010 i honestly closed my eyes to the effervescent city that we have, it's worthy take your bike or even walk throught the city and get lost in quiet places, but full of histories. It's the old and imposing city hall that became a forgotten building, it's the church that become a cinema, it's a stadium in the middle of the houses....

Well, theses days i took my bike and rided to nowhere, just enjoying the ride, one hour i noticed a store, i decided to enter, i realized that it was a store where sell old books(believe it, during years i didn't noticed such a nice place called "O Sebo" ), how good is feel the smell of old books, take some books that lots of people already read it, it's awesome know that we have such a nice store with the biggest collections of the state and one of the biggest of the South of Brazil. Another place full of history of Joinville is the "brechó das antiguidades", once i got there the people told me that they buy just old stuff of Joinville. Enter this store is a journey through the history of the city.
In 2009 i discovered in Joinville an association called AJOTE(Joinville association of Theater), i entered their site to check what we have in the theater scene of Joinville, for my surprise, i discovered that we have a lot of good things to watch every week! Since then, i go to the theater at least once a month.

But Definitely, what made me start to fall in love with Joinville was the "Estrada Dona Francisca" historical street, where the "Casa Krüger" represents the history of this Place. Casa Krüger is a touristic gateway of rural tourism of Joinville. In the "Estrada Dona Francisca" there are some typical stops, one of those stops is in the "Lanchonete rio da Prata" where there are very good "Pastéis" to eat, close to the road, there is a very magical place full of rivers where you can take bath or just sightseeing this amazing and peaceful place, this region is called "Quiriri".

There is also another part of Joinville, that has focus in the eco rural tourism, it's called the region of the " Piraí" where besides of the rivers, there also lots of waterfalls and "natural pools".

Museums: Yeah! Joinville has a lot of them. Unfortunately, most of the Joinvilenses don't know or simply ignore them. Inside of those museums, there are recorded the history of the City... It's worthy spend some hours "traveling" through the history of the city and the people that came here to build the richest and biggest city of Santa Catarina. Some recommendations: Museum of the Bicycle, Museum of Sambaqui, Museum of Art of Joinville, there are also lot of museums here in joinville to be explored, but these ones are my favorite ones.
Night Life: Since i started to live in Joinville, in 2008, i watched a revolution in the night life scene of Joinville! In the beginning there were just two places to go, nowadays there are LOT of places, for any kind of musical preference. Well, i wont talk about classical night clubs such as Moom, Mansão, IDEM, MEET, Soul, Joinville Square Garden, UP. I will talk about a place where i went some months ago called Pixel, this is the only place of Joinville where plays music from the 80's, 90's, rock, funny music. The place is not beautiful, it's ugly, but the music makes the place be worthy. And the beer is also cheap, the bottle of Heineken of 600mL is just R$ 7,00 (in a normal night club this is the price of a heineken long neck).

This is just a little bit of some curious and sometimes forgotten places of my city that few people know. This is the Joinville that i like, where everyday i discover new things, new tastes. Honestly, the important is not where you live, but the important is to live very intensely wherever you are.
Well, if i didn't conviced you to enjoy Joinville, you can also make a sweet escape... The last 5 years as a student i didn't have too much money to travel(and come back home too!), so, i needed to discover new ways to travel for cheap... So, i discovered that there are a lot of people that can give you a ride for the coolest and hottest cities of Santa Catarina, South of Brazil, São Paulo and Rio... and the best thing is: The ride is very cheap and generally get in touch with nice people. If you wanna go the magical island of florianópolis, you can take a ride for just R$ 20 ( a bus ticket is R$ 44, that's more than 50% of discount) and the same happens for Curitiba, Balneário Camboriú, São Paulo...

There are a lot of announcements of rides, you just need to call the owner of the car(they leave their number in the announcements) or send them a messege or e-mail, generally they take you home, it's really really nice and you also meet new people.

Events

Joinville it's a great city of corporate events, specially for entrepeneurs and engineers. Every year we have lot of Fairs, one of the biggests of Brazil and Latin America: Metal Mechanic (Intermach), Plastics (Interplast), Automation...
But i won't talk about these events, i 'll talk about a big event made specially for generation Y ( or if you prefer, millenials), it's called Youth to Business Forum, this year, for the first time, this event happened in Joinville (Joinville Youth to Business Forum). This event is a great opportunity to young people engage with the corporate market, through Lectures, Workshops with the biggest companies of the region, of the country and the world. The Youth to Business forum happens in the main cities of the world, Globally, Nationally and in Local level. The Youth to business forum is a unique event powered by AIESEC, which CONNECTS young leaders and businesses around relevant topics in the world to generate new ideas and thoughts about the future.
In the first edition i was invited by the organization committee to be the chair of this event in Joinville. It was an awesome experience to be the chair of this event that had more than two hundred people and big companies of Brazil and Joinville (Whirlpool, Embraco, HSBC, Grupo RBS). Through this event it was possible to create and discuss with the youth of the city and big companies new ideas about the future and create new connections that can solve our problems that we have nowadays in the corporate market and in our society. So, my tip is, don't miss the next editions, this event will happen twice per year in the city and more young entrepeneurs, leaders and big companies will be there to create new connections and discuss innovative ideas, it's a must go event for young people.

Some Final Thoughts

It took a long time to realize that we REALLY need enjoy this ride called life, the last 5 years i've been studying so hard (yeah, you should try to study in UDESC, it's really hard!), with a lot of personal, familiar problems, that i forgot to live with all my energy my life (my only focus was my studies and the problems). What made me wake up for life this year was one thing: Everybody is gonna die. Yeah, you are gonna die someday. In my opinion this is not a bad thing, this fact reminds us everyday that we must enjoy this ride called Life, and it's in our control to make this ride be as fun as possible with a lot of meaningful and beautiful days. That's why i decided that in my life i have a very clear goal, every person that i meet, every place that i go, every instituition that i join, i'll do my best to make things better with me than it was without me.
Everytime i remember that we are all in this "giant blue sphere" called Earth floating in the middle of nowhere, i realize how AMAZING, BEAUTIFUL and MAGICAL is our life, and this only makes me think that we only have one option... Work and do things that we love and stay in contact with our friends, family and interesting and nice people.
Well, this year of 2012 was really nice, with a lot of interesting people, learning new skills... There are still too many ideas that i will bring up to light in 2013, hope share my best life experiments with everybody in the next months here in this tumblr.
